Resin driveways in Melksham and across Wiltshire

Clean, seamless, permeable resin driveways, laid over a properly prepared base so they last.

Resin is our most popular driveway finish, and for good reason. A resin bound driveway looks clean and seamless, lets rainwater drain straight through, and needs very little looking after. It is the surface you will see most of in our gallery, and the one homeowners across Melksham, Trowbridge, Chippenham and the rest of Wiltshire ask us for most. We prepare the ground properly and lay it right, so yours still looks the part years down the line rather than months.

  • Permeable and SUDS-friendly, usually no planning permission
  • Smooth, seamless finish in a range of colours
  • Low-maintenance: no weeds, no loose stones
  • Laid over a properly prepared, drained base

Why homeowners choose resin

A resin bound driveway gives you a smooth, seamless surface with no loose stones to kick up, wash into the road or track through the house. It is one of the best-looking finishes you can lay, and it is one of the most practical too. Because it is permeable, rainwater soaks straight through rather than running off, so there are no puddles and, in most cases, no planning permission to worry about. There are no joints for weeds to push through and no blocks to re-sand, so upkeep is little more than an occasional wash down. Laid over a sound base, it stands up to daily driving and keeps its looks for years.

  • Permeable, so rainwater drains straight through
  • Hard-wearing enough for everyday driving
  • A wash-down is all the maintenance it needs
  • No weeds pushing through and no loose gravel

It all starts with the base

Most resin driveways that fail do so because of what is underneath, not the resin itself. A thin or poorly drained base will move and crack no matter how good the surface looks on day one, so we never cut corners on the groundwork. We excavate to the right depth, lay and compact a solid sub-base, sort out edging and any drainage, and only then trowel on the resin. It is the part you never see once the job is finished, and it is the part that decides how long your driveway lasts. If your existing base is sound we can often build on it, and if it is not we will tell you straight.

  • Drainage and edging sorted before we lay
  • Honest advice on whether your base can be reused

Colours, and what affects the price

Resin comes in a wide range of natural aggregates and blends, from warm golds and browns to cool charcoal greys, so it is easy to match to your home. When it comes to cost, a resin driveway is priced on the size of the area, the condition and preparation of the base, the aggregate you choose and how easy the site is to get to. It is not the cheapest finish to lay, but its long life and very low upkeep make it excellent value over time. We give you a firm, itemised quote after a quick site visit, with no obligation and no pressure.

Resin is not just for driveways

The same finish works beautifully beyond the drive. We have laid resin pathways that tie a front and back garden together, and resin patios that give a clean, modern seating area with no weeds between the slabs and nothing to trip on. If you like the look for your driveway, it is well worth thinking about where else it could go while we are on site. Take a look at our patios and paving too, and we can quote for the lot in one visit.

FAQs

Resin Driveways: your questions answered

What is a resin bound driveway?

Resin bound is a mix of clear resin and natural aggregate, trowelled onto a solid base to give a smooth, seamless surface with no loose stones. It is fully permeable, so water drains through it rather than pooling on top.

How much does a resin driveway cost?

The price depends on the size of the driveway, the condition of the existing base and the aggregate you choose, so we give you a firm price after a site visit. Resin is not the cheapest finish, but its long life and low upkeep make it excellent value. Quotes are free.

How long do resin driveways last?

A properly installed resin driveway on a sound base will last many years with very little maintenance. The base preparation is what makes the difference, which is exactly why we never cut corners on the groundwork underneath.

Do resin driveways need planning permission?

Because resin bound is permeable, it usually does not need planning permission, unlike some non-permeable surfaces. It is a SUDS-friendly choice that lets rainwater soak away naturally. We will flag anything worth knowing when we quote.

Are resin driveways slippery?

No. The natural aggregate gives a textured, grippy surface, and because it drains freely there is no standing water to freeze. It is a safe, low-maintenance finish for a driveway or path.
