Fencing in Melksham and across Wiltshire

Strong, tidy garden fencing supplied and fitted for homeowners across Wiltshire. New fences, replacements and repairs, on concrete posts that last.

A good fence keeps your garden private, secure and looking its best. A bad one is a job you end up paying for twice. We install strong, good-looking garden fencing for homeowners and commercial customers across Melksham, Devizes, Chippenham and the surrounding Wiltshire towns, and we fit concrete posts and gravel boards as standard so your fence stays put for years, not seasons. Whether you need a whole new boundary or a few panels replaced after a storm, you get a tidy job and a clear, free quote.

  • Concrete posts and gravel boards as standard
  • Close board, panel, post-and-rail and matching gates

Fencing that is built to last

A garden fence has two jobs: mark your boundary and stand up to years of British weather. We build ours to do both. The single biggest reason fences fail is rot where a timber post meets wet ground, so every fence we install goes on concrete posts with gravel boards. There is no timber sitting in the soil to rot, the panels are held clear of the ground, and if one is ever damaged it can be lifted out and replaced without digging the posts back up. It costs a little more than an all-timber fence up front, and it saves you replacing the whole thing a few years down the line.

  • No rotten timber posts at ground level
  • Posts concreted in and lines kept dead straight
  • Site left clean and tidy when we finish

Types of fencing we install

From full-height privacy boundaries to lower garden divides, we fit the style that suits your garden and your budget. Close board, sometimes called feather edge, is our most popular choice: overlapping vertical boards make it the strongest and most private option. Panel fencing drops lap or closeboard panels between concrete posts for a tidy, cost-effective finish, and post and rail suits larger, more rural plots. We also build and hang pedestrian and double gates to match. If you are not sure which is right, tell us the height and the look you are after and we will recommend the best option when we quote.

  • Close board (feather edge): strongest and most private
  • Panel fencing: tidy and cost-effective
  • Post and rail: simple and rural, ideal for larger plots
  • Pedestrian and double gates built to match

Fence repairs and storm damage

Not every fence needs replacing. Storms, rot and old fixings all take their toll, and often only part of the run has gone. If the fence is mostly sound we can replace individual panels, posts or gravel boards and save you the cost of a whole new boundary. Where the posts have rotted at the base, or the run is leaning and pulling its neighbours with it, a full replacement usually works out better value in the long run. Either way you get the honest answer, not the most expensive one, along with a clear price before we start.

FAQs

Fencing: your questions answered

How much does new fencing cost?

It depends on the length of the run, the fence type and the state of the ground, so we give you a firm price after a quick look. As a guide, fencing is usually priced by the metre once we know the height and style. Every quote is free and there is no obligation.

Do you use concrete or timber posts?

We fit concrete posts and gravel boards as standard. They cost a little more than timber, but they do not rot at ground level, which is where timber posts almost always fail, so your fence lasts far longer and is cheaper over its life.

Can you repair a fence rather than replace it?

Often, yes. If most of the fence is sound we can replace individual panels, posts or gravel boards. If the posts have rotted or the whole run is failing, a replacement usually works out better value. We will tell you honestly which makes more sense before you commit.

How long does it take to put up a fence?

A typical domestic garden fence is usually a one or two day job, depending on the length of the run and whether concrete needs time to set. We will give you a realistic timescale with your quote so you know what to expect.

What areas do you cover for fencing?

We cover Melksham, Devizes, Chippenham, Trowbridge and the surrounding Wiltshire towns and villages. If you are nearby and not sure whether we reach you, just ask and we will let you know.
